The state of Florida has passed a law requiring businesses to give employees three days off if they've been sexually assaulted. (A similar law on domestic violence was passed last year.)
Not surprisingly, California has a better law.
You can't assume all employers will have enough compassion to allow victims to take time off to seek court injunctions, medical care and counseling, among other possible needs. But the law doesn't apply unless the business has at least 50 employees. And employers don't have to pay the employee on those three days.
Not surprisingly, California has a better law.
